Sarah Eagle Heart has spent her career as a bridge builder and advocate for social justice, leveraging storytelling, philanthropy, and cultural leadership to create systemic change. Sarah currently serves as the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Indigenous Fashion Collective, an international initiative celebrating Indigenous design, creativity, and economic development through fashion. She is the Co-Founder to Return to the Heart Foundation, which mobilizes resources to support innovative, Indigenous women-led projects rooted in healing and matriarchal values. Prior to these roles, she served as CEO of Native Americans in Philanthropy, a national nonprofit focused on increasing investment in Native communities, and as the Team Leader for Diversity, Social Justice, and Environmental Ministries and Program Officer for Indigenous Ministries at The Episcopal Church in New York City.

As Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Indigenous Fashion Collective, Sarah Eagle Heart leads a powerful movement rooted in cultural revitalization, economic empowerment, and artistic excellence. The Collective celebrates Indigenous fashion as a vehicle for storytelling, sovereignty, and sustainable economic development. By curating national showcases, education programs, and industry partnerships, Sarah is helping to build a vibrant platform where Indigenous designers, artists, and communities reclaim space in the global fashion narrative while creating new opportunities for intergenerational wealth. Their marque event is the annual “Indigenous Met Gala” held over Indigenous Peoples Day weekend.

Return to the Heart Foundation

Co-Founder
Sarah co-founded Return to the Heart Foundation to address the urgent need for intersectional support for Indigenous women-led initiatives. Grounded in Indigenous matriarchal values and community healing, the foundation mobilizes resources to support Native women changemakers in the arts, advocacy, and culture. By bridging philanthropy and lived experience, Return to the Heart uplifts voices too often left out of mainstream funding—nurturing transformative solutions born from Indigenous wisdom and resilience.
